Destination Ride: Sprite Island!

Sunday, July 14, 2019

Our gracious hosts & RBSC Members, Chris & Kelly Weldon, invite us to a beautiful ride along the coast followed by a launch boat ride over to the private Sprite Island Yacht Club for post-ride refreshments!

Sprite Island Yacht Club (SIYC) is a small, private club located on Long Island Sound. It offers members and their guests a one-of-a-kind island destination and a thriving club community with access to moorings, launch operations, food services, organized events (on and off the water) and so much more!

Click here for a video tour of the island.

We will meet at 8:45am for a 9am departure from the Sprite Island Parking lot.

Routes will meander along the coast and bring us back for a relaxing morning on the island. Bring a towel and bathing suit for a post ride dip.

This ride is limited to 50 riders. We will open a waiting list. If you need to cancel, please log into your RBSC account and go to your events to cancel so the next person can come along.

From Chris & Kelly: We will meet at the Sprite Island parking lot – the GPS address is 23 Canfield Ave in Norwalk. It neighbors Calf Pasture Beach and Shore Haven Country Club. After the ride, you can leave their bikes locked on your bike racks in the parking lot or ride/walk down 1/3 a mile to 23 Shorehaven Road where Sprite has a Shore Station and a garage area to park bikes.

To get from the parking lot to Shore Station/Sprite Island use the paved pathway located at the Southeast corner of parking lot-white gate. At the end of the paved pathway turn left and continue walking to the very end of the road. Ignore the private road signs and keep going to you hit water! SIYC’s jetty is located on the right just before the bridge to Canfield Island. The garage to stow bikes is on the left.

From the jetty simply walk to the end of the dock and catch a launch boat that will bring you to the island – it’s a delightful 5 minute ride over. Once on Island, Chris and I will have light breakfast type refreshments and riders are welcome to relax and take in the views.

Bikers may want to bring a pair of flipflops and possibly a bathing suit and towel.

Thanks Chris and Kelly!!
