Gravel Ride the Gunks! Join us Friday, June 4th, 9.30AM for a scenic ride through Mohonk Mountain Preserve and Minnewaska State Park to Lake Awosting. Stunning overlooks and vistas along the way. The ride is suitable for gravel and mountain bikes. B Ride leader Roger Van Ausdal. B-,C+ Ride leader TBD.
Please bring plenty of water, mid-ride snacks and we recommend you pack a lunch for after as there is very little around the area. Hydrate all week pre-ride as it might be hot one.
The B Route will go around Lake Awosting, which can be rocky & difficult on a gravel bike.
**If any B-/C+ riders want to lead, let us know and we will add on a level. We have a route that skirts the technical Lake Awosting section.
Parking at West Trapps https://www.mohonkpreserve.org/visit/trailheads/west-trapps-trailhead.html Additional parking further up at Minnewaska State Park. The fee is $20 per person at West Trapps, & it includes the permit for riding in Mohonk. Parking is $10 per car at Minnewaska, but it does not include the permit for riding in Mohonk. (In the past we have gotten away with parking at Minnewaska and riding in Mohonk.)
