Rail Trail Series: Maybrook Rail Trail -25

The Maybrook, connecting Brewster, NY and Hopewell Junction, NY, officially opened in January 2021, and is a new addition to the larger Empire State Trailway initiative. This ride takes us from the Brewster Trailhead passing Ice Pond, The Great Swamp and a rail trestle bridge. Trail is flat and fully paved. Very slight grade (1.5%) up to Lake Whaley at trail midpoint, where we will turn around.

PACE: 12-15 mph
LEVEL: All levels welcomed. Given the easy terrain, expectation is that any C rider and better will have no problem with the ride.  This is a more social vs competitive ride, and we will be sharing the trail with walkers and casual bikers.

9:30/45: Assembly at Brewster Trailhead in Southeast Park
10:00       Commence Ride
11:00/11:15   Arrive Lake Whaley
11:30:  Depart back to Brewster
12:45: Arrive back at Brewster Trailhead

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Ridgefield area to Brewster Trailhead
1-From Intersection of Route 121(Peach Lake Road) and Route 6, take Route 6 West
2-On Route 6 West proceed to Peaceable Hill Road (right turn just after Route 6 turns away from Route 202)
3- Take Peaceable Hill Road to end and turn RIGHT onto Tonetta Lake Road;
4-In less than 200yards, just past the Rte 84 underpass, Pump House Road will be on your LEFT;
5-Follow Pump House a half mile or so over the tracks and Trail to the end of Pump House into a small park where a gravel entryway takes you to the parking area for the Brewster/ Maybrook Trailhead.
