OK, call me a creature of habit, but this is a repeat of a ride that is one of my favorites, and one that seems to fit the needs of some of our members. The ride is fairly short, very flat and can easily be done at whatever pace is comfortable for participants. Think of it as a C-level ride without any traffic.
The Maybrook Trailway runs between Brewster and Hopewell Junction. It is a piece of the larger Empire State Trailway system. This ride takes us from the Brewster Trailhead (located at the north end of the Southeast Town Park), past the Ice Pond, the Great Swamp and Whaley Lake, to the turnaround at Depot Hill Road in West Pawling. The trail is almost flat (max. grade 1.5%) and fully paved.
DISTANCE : 30 miles round trip, all on rail trail
PACE: 12-15 mph
LEVEL: All levels welcomed. Given the easy terrain, the expectation is that any C rider or better will have no problem with the ride. We will adjust the pace to suit the participants. We may go at a tempo pace of about 15 mph if all are willing.
