Description of Ride:
Our ride will take the Dutchess Rail Trail (DRT) from Hopewell Junction to Poughkeepsie. We will cross the Hudson River via the Walkway Over the Hudson. Once on the western side of the river, the trailway changes names and becomes the Hudson Valley Rail Trail. We will take the HVRT for a short distance into the village of Highland. There we will leave the trailway and go a few blocks north to our lunch stop at Underground Coffee & Ale. After lunch we will simply turn around head back to the start.
Mileage: 32 miles
Pace: 12-15 mph
Level: All levels welcomed. Given the easy terrain, expectation is that any C rider and better will have no problem with the ride. This is a more social vs competitive ride, and we will be sharing the trail with walkers and casual bikers, especially on the return leg.
