Description: The goal is to post a Travel Gravel ride once a month. The objective is to ride some awesome gravel routes that are outside of our local area ~ generally within two hours of Ridgefield.
This event is considered a Meet UP event(1) for RBC members. Travel Gravel #3 will be in Far Hills, New Jersey area (We will be riding through my hometown - Pottersville, NJ, which I haven't seen in over 30 years. Okay, start belting out the "It's a Wonderful Life" jokes, I've heard them all). We will be riding with folks from GrNY.org. They have three routes posted on their website (I'll be riding the Medium route). Please see their website to download your desired route (or RidewithGPS links below) and gather more information. Also, see the GrNY Strava site to join their club (It's free to join) and RSVP for the event.
We start in Natirar Park in Peapack, about two hours from Ridgefield. Take the Peapack Rd entrance and go to the first parking area.
Take Exit 22 off of I-287 onto Rt 202 North
Make right turn onto Old Dutch Road East
Make left onto Rte 512 (Peapack Road)
Make first right onto Natirar Drive
Head to the first parking area
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before start and have route downloaded. Post ride picnic in the park. Bring your own sandwich.
This area of NJ has some of the nicest gravel riding in our region: Dirt roads through woods, forests, and along peaceful streams; Ridges and hills with beautiful pastoral views; Quaint small towns with General Stores. You'll probably find at least one cooler in the woods with local maple syrup and an on-your-honor jar for depositing money. Additional highlights of our route include the rugged climb up Teetertown Ravine and riding above the Lockwood Gorge. You won't want to miss it!
