Ridgefield Bicycle Club
WhatsApp Community
Attention All RBC Members,
The RBC Board is introducing the Ridgefield Bicycle Club WhatsApp Community, a new online feature that is included in RBC membership. In essence, the RBC WhatsApp Community is a central hub that offers a structured way to manage conversations among multiple related group chats, as well as broad Club communications.
Inside the RBC community, dedicated groups are organized by rider skill levels and cycling themes:
A Riders
A- Riders
B+ Riders
B Riders
B- Riders
C Riders
|
RBC Gravel
Mountain Bikers
Women’s Rides
Special Events
E-Bike Riders
|
All members with an active paid membership can join as many groups as they desire. Think of these groups as “group texting chats” where Ride Event notifications are posted, topical items are discussed and best of all, member outreach to other members – the ability for any member to solicit a group to join them for an impromptu ride.
The Wild Apricot app remains the only way for members to sign up for Club events. The RBC WhatsApp Community does not replace the Wild Apricot signup process in any way.
The RBC Board has noticed a need within the club to facilitate member-to-member communication. The WhatsApp Community feature is a natural way for the Club to fulfill this need. In addition to the groups listed above, there are restricted groups (need approval to join) designed for Club management. The restricted groups are as follows:
Announcements
|
For all Club related news - Members can read RBC postings, but cannot post in this group.
|
Ride Leaders
|
For all Club Ride Leaders.
|
Admin Topics
|
For the worker bees that maintain the community forum. This group will consist of i) a few members of the RBC Board and ii) Ride Leaders who posted at least 5 rides last season.
|
Joining the RBC WhatsApp Community is quick and easy,
just follow these steps:
Download the WhatsApp app onto your phone

Select your interested groups
Once setup, members can adjust their profile (please use your real name) and explore the different features the app has to offer. Please note that using your real name is strongly recommended in these group chats, rather than the default phone number. It helps to know who’s chatting.
Lastly, please i) keep the conversations to cycling related topics, ii) be kind and considerate and iii) no rude and hate behavior is allowed. Group administrators have zero tolerance for unruly behavior and have the authority to delete posts and eject violators.
The RBC board is excited to offer this service and truly hope members utilize these communication tools to their benefits. Thank you for helping further build the RBC community.
Best Regards to All Members,
Your RBC Board of Directors
